2023 Garbage Collection Days and Holidays
Garbage collection for the entire Borough will continue to be collected every Wednesday.
However, when Waste Management celebrates a Holiday on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, it will delay our collection one day later that week.
The 2023 Holiday Weeks that are affected are as follows:
Memorial Day - Thursday, June 1st
4th of July- Thursday, July 6th
Labor Day- Thursday, September 7th
Christmas- Thursday, December 28th
2023 Recycle Schedule:
Guidelines for Garbage Collection: Garbage should be properly secured in containers or plastic bags. Grass clippings and weeds should be in plastic bags. All furniture items, (furniture with glass or mirror must be taped to secure from breakage); appliances (Freon removed and tagged), household goods and disassembled children's swing sets will be accepted at curbside. Carpet should be rolled and tied in lengths not to exceed 48 inches so that one person can lift. Empty paint cans and/or dried paint is acceptable. Paint can be dried by air drying or soaking up with newspaper or kitty litter. Lids should be left off.
Excluded Items: Building material, tires, automobile parts including wheel rims, trees and branches over 3 inches in diameter, ashes from furnaces and fireplaces, stones, dirt, computers and liquid paint. To be a good recycler, please begin making the following recycling changes immediately: Beginning in January 2019, Waste Management will no longer accept recyclables at the curb containing heavy contamination.
Recycle only #1PET or #2HDPE empty plastic bottles, cans, paper and cardboard (no pizza boxes). Keep foods, liquids and plastic bags out of recycling. Your recyclables should be emptied directly into your recycling bin.
DO NOT BAG YOUR RECYCLABLES. Waste Management will NO longer accept recyclables in any type of plastic bags. Materials MUST be placed loose in your recycling bin.
Plastic retail bags should be taken to your local retailer to recycle. ONLY recycle plastic bottles, jars and jugs labeled as #1PET or #2HDPE plastic in your curbside recycling bin. If it is not a plastic bottle, can, jar, jug or paper, it must go in the trash.

NEW... A dumpster for YARD WASTE ONLY will be available to residents the first Saturday of each month, May thru the end of September. This dumpster will be located in Mowry Park #4 parking lot. Yard waste in biodegradable bags or no bag at all is acceptable. Yard waste includes: grass, leaves, hedge and tree trimmings less than 3" in diameter.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2013: A NEW LAW PROHIBITS LANDFILLS FROM RECEIVING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: TV'S AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT. COMPUTER EQUIPMENT INCLUDES LAPTOPS, MONITORS, CPU'S, PRINTERS, SCANNERS, KEYBOARD, MOUSES, SPEAKERS, CABLE AND BATTERY BACKUPS. THESE ITEMS WILL NO LONGER BE PICKED UP BY WASTE MANAGEMENT.

Wastewater (Sewer) Billing: Pleasant Hills Borough residents are billed monthly for wastewater (sewer) charges. For your convenience the Municipal Building has a Drop Off Box located in our Borough parking lot near the back entrance for payments.
