Public Service Message from EMS Chief Todd Plunkett

Baldwin Emergency Medical Service

Over the past several months we all have been working hard to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic.  We would like to thank all of the community for their support and their understanding during these difficult times.

At this time we wanted to update everyone that we currently are functioning at 100 percent capability and we proudly can report we have been functioning with no service disruption since the beginning of the pandemic.

Every day we clean and disinfect all of our equipment and ambulances.  After each patient encounter, we clean all of our equipment with CDC approved disinfectant.  We have also contracted an outside agency to professionally clean all the ambulances to ensure each patient has a clean and safe environment. Daily briefings to all of our paramedics keep them up to date with the newest released COVID-19 care plans and disinfecting procedures.

We want to let everyone know that it is safe to call 911 for an ambulance and the emergency rooms and hospitals are ready to take care of your medical needs.  Our paramedics may look a little different when they come to your homes, but we are the same high trained and caring group.  We will be wearing masks, gowns, and gloves but this is to keep everyone safe.

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to remind everyone to not delay medical care.  If you need medical help, please make sure to prioritize it.  Do not let minor conditions get worse.  Call your doctor, visit an urgent care, or call 911 for an ambulance. Many processes have been developed to provide you with safe care during this unusual time.

Please check on your friends, family, and neighbors. Make sure they have their medications, food and nutritional items, make sure they are communicating their medical needs to their doctors and getting their prescriptions filled.  If you think someone needs help, say something. Neighbors helping neighbors.

We are here to help you, please don’t be afraid to reach out. You can contact us for an emergency by calling 911. Any non-emergent needs can be directed to our office line at 412-884-0666.
